More lost and stolen jewelry..we need your help

My wife and I recently returned from Phoenix and after a couple of days she realized her jewelry bag that she was traveling with was nowhere to be found. She believes the jewelry was in her bag up until we got to the rental car return. She had in the bag a vintage platinum and diamond necklace, platinum and diamond bracelet with heart shapes, 2 platinum rings(one with a floral pattern and the other here wedding band with filigree work on the sides) and several pearl necklaces not to mention some random costume jewerly. Does anyone know how best to track down lost/stolen jewelry? Any recommendations on who to call in Phoenix and or Dallas to track down such items?

Good question! The women of a village in the Honduras are ready to answer that with a stunning selection of necklaces, bracelets and earrings. These women are working to help get a new water supply for their village by making these beads for the Honduran Bead Company. YOu know what's really sweet about this? Each selection is named after the person that made it. Here is Carmen...

My wedding ring is lost, please help find it!

A new comment from “Martha” was received on the post “Looking for STOLEN JEWELRY???” of the blog “Diamond Diva Online”.

Comment:

I am looking for a white gold anniversary band with 9 blue diamonds princess cut. The stones slightly vary in sizes, some smaller than the others. Please help me find my wedding ring. I'm sick over this special piece of my heart!!
God Bless you for helping those get back what is dear to them, not in monetary value but rather sentimental value!!
There is a LARGE CASH REWARD for the return of the ring,....NO QUESTIONS ASKED!!

Lost or stolen Jewelry????

I had a lot of replies to my recent lost and stolen jewelry blog. So here goes...if you have something lost or stolen and want to list it here.. go right ahead and do it. With all our readers and jeweler friends, maybe we can help.

We'll take this one step at a time and see how it works best, but for starters, just post a response and I'll publish it.

Report: Possible 'blood diamonds' seized at JFK

This is from the National Jeweler online magazine:

April 15, 2009.

New York--Customs officials at New York's John F. Kennedy Airport seized $800,000 in diamonds on Saturday because the stones did not have the proper certificates required under the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme, according to a report from NBC New York.

According to NBC New York, two U.S. jewelers arriving from the West African nation of Sierra Leone via London declared the diamonds--a total of 28 rough stones weighing almost 1,200 carats--along with 57 pounds of gold dust when coming through customs.

Customs officials became suspicious and seized the diamonds after the two jewelers, whose names have not been released, could not produce the proper paperwork, the news organization reports.

The Kimberley Process (KP) is the mechanism put in place by the industry, governments and civil society to stem the flow of "conflict" or "blood" diamonds, rough diamonds used by rebel forces in Africa to fund wars against legitimate governments.

KP certificates must accompany diamonds to ensure they are "conflict free," meaning they are legitimately sourced and not being used to fund wars.

Though the country is now at peace, Sierra Leone was once a hotbed for blood diamonds and served as the setting for the 2006 movie Blood Diamond starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

According to NBC New York, Customs and Border Protection officials are working to identify the origin of the diamonds and have not yet verified that they are from a conflict area in Africa.

The 28 diamonds seized were headed for Brentwood, N.Y.

For more information on the Kimberley Process, visit KimberleyProcess.com.

Healing Gems

I have always believed in the healing power of gemstones. Just ask any guy who has been in the doghouse. One visit to the Diamond Divas and a special healing gemstone can mend the problem.

I have often watched the face of someone getting a new diamond ring. The smile and white light just glows.

So do some healing this weekend.

Clothes too expensive...jewelry just right!

My husband is an interior designer. Recently the trend is to re-arrange what you have and purchase minimal accessories to redefine a room. That sounds like the way I've been treating my clothing wardrobe for years.

I'm not much of a clothes shopper, but I like Coldwater Creek clothing and make exceptions for them. At CC, they feature a lot of travel knits for the girl on the go like me. Basic clothing or backdrops for my jewelry. They don't take up a lot of room (although I do have this "killer walk in closet" my husband built for me back in 1994!) and I can use the money I invested in gold jewelry to accessorize, changing the mood of the outfit.

Investing seems to have a bad tone these days. Gold hit $1,000.00 an oz on Friday. Actually I'm smiling, because I invested in most of my good stuff at $250.00 gold years ago. So the money I saved then and the money I save on my wardrobe now really makes me smile!!!
