The media is telling us that luxury items were down 34% this holiday season and judging from our sales that's about right. But that doesn't mean that folks forgot their neighborhood jeweler this year.
When times get hard, people turn to the things that bring them comfort. This year we fashioned the wedding bands of a client's parents into a cross and mounted a seven diamond round cluster (the engagement ring) in the center. Now she feels like her parents are still with her and watching over her.
Recycling jewelry is something I've been doing for the 30 years I've been at Way-Fil Jewelry. I started calling it "Touching the Past". It keeps a piece of jewelry close by and memories fresh.
Last year, we were asked to mount a client's late husband's wedding band on a filigree pendant. It really turned out so perfect. She wears it daily. (I'm smiling right now!)
So even if you don't have the funds for a D Flawless 1.00 carat diamond, you can still stop by your favorite jeweler and ask about recycling something that will bring a smile and warm your heart!
Happy New Year!
