Losing a bag at the airport is traumatic. You're already stressed, probably late and now you have to deal with claim forms and people who hear this every day. When my bag was "misplaced" last year, the people who were assisting me sounded like robots. "What color was your bag? How heavy was it? Any distinguishing details?, etc." All this was important, but since I was their 10 thousandth complaint that day, you get the idea.
So what's a Diva to do? You take a risk packing anything valuable in a suitcase. (Translate that as a really dumb idea.) You could keep it in your purse, but we all know where those end up...Mr. X-Ray machine guy who might be working with someone in the airport.
I usually just leave the good stuff in the safe and don't try to call any extra attention to myself while traveling. It's kinda sad after working hard to achieve the tokens of success and affection, but that's today's world.
Anyone have some thoughts on a better way?
